Few names in Swiss watchmaking can claim a story as remarkable as Bovet. Founded in 1822 by Édouard Bovet in the village of Fleurier, the Maison quickly became one of the first truly global luxury watchmakers. While much of Switzerland was still focused on Europe, Bovet looked east, producing extraordinary pocket watches for the Imperial Chinese market. Such was the brand's prestige that, for generations, the name "Bovet" became virtually synonymous with a fine watch throughout China—a distinction achieved by only a handful of watchmakers in history. 

That spirit of innovation has never disappeared. Bovet pioneered the use of transparent casebacks, mastered decorative arts such as Fleurisanne engraving and miniature painting, and today remains one of the very few independent manufactures producing nearly every major component of its watches entirely in-house. Since Pascal Raffy revived the Maison in the early 2000s, Bovet has earned more than forty international watchmaking awards while continuing to preserve the artisanal traditions that made it famous over two centuries ago. 

The 19Thirty perfectly captures this philosophy.

Rather than looking to the future for inspiration, Bovet looked back to one of the final pocket watches it created before wristwatches transformed the industry. The collection takes its name from the 1930s, an era when gentlemen gradually exchanged waistcoats for wrists. Its unmistakable Fleurier case, oversized bow at twelve o'clock and suspended crown all trace their lineage directly to Bovet's historic "easel" chronometer—one of the Maison's most celebrated creations and the bridge between pocket watch and wristwatch. 

This particular 19Thirty NTR0099 elevates that heritage with extraordinary materials. Crafted in warm 18k red gold, it is paired with a spectacular blue Gibeon meteorite dial—a fragment of a celestial body that formed more than four billion years ago before reaching Earth. Every crystalline Widmanstätten pattern is naturally unique, ensuring no two dials will ever be identical. It is a reminder that some of the world's greatest works of art are created not by man, but by time itself.

Beneath the sapphire caseback beats the hand-wound Manufacture Calibre 15BM04, entirely conceived and finished by Bovet. Decorated with Geneva stripes, polished bevels and traditional haute horlogerie finishing, the movement delivers an exceptional seven-day power reserve from a single barrel—a remarkable technical achievement housed within an elegant case measuring just 9.05 mm thick.

This Bovet 19Thirty NTR0099 is presented in excellent overall condition and has clearly been treated with the care expected of a modern haute horlogerie timepiece. Purchased new from Les Ambassadeurs Zürich on 5 August 2025, it remains a complete set with its original presentation box, warranty papers and accessories.

The 18k red gold Fleurier case retains its crisp, flowing lines and elegant polished finish. Upon close inspection, only very light superficial hairlines consistent with careful occasional wear can be found, with no significant dents, deep scratches or signs of polishing that would detract from its original geometry. The distinctive bow at twelve o'clock, suspended crown assembly and sapphire cabochons all remain beautifully preserved.

The striking blue Gibeon meteorite dial is flawless. Its naturally formed Widmanstätten pattern displays remarkable depth under changing light, while the printed numerals, signatures and power reserve scale remain perfectly crisp. The blued hands and small seconds register are equally pristine, with no visible blemishes, discoloration or damage. Both the front and display-back sapphire crystals are free from notable marks, offering an uninterrupted view of the dial and the beautifully finished manufacture movement.

Visible through the exhibition caseback, the hand-wound Manufacture Calibre 15BM04 appears exceptionally clean and well cared for. The movement retains its refined Geneva stripes, polished bevels and traditional finishing, reflecting the high standards synonymous with Bovet's in-house craftsmanship.

The original blue alligator leather strap remains fitted to the watch and shows light to moderate signs of wear, most noticeably around the adjustment holes and folding areas from careful use. It remains supple, attractive and perfectly wearable, while the original 18k red gold Bovet pin buckle presents beautifully with only the faintest handling marks.

Overall, this is a highly appealing example that combines the reassurance of a recent production watch with the completeness collectors seek. Offered with its original box and papers, preserved in excellent cosmetic condition and featuring one of Bovet's most captivating meteorite dials, it is ready to be enjoyed immediately while remaining worthy of even the most discerning collection.
